Starting out
This is this website’s first year. Let’s see how it goes/is going/went.
A theme for the website!
Git is really complex
I now know how to sign git commits, some best practices (using SSH Signatures, Ed25519 and all that, per Soatok’s post; I will probably link to his blog again in the future, he’s my reference cryptography expert) and the difference between bare and normal repos.
This little learning experience has made me use a lot of git commands and config options while experimenting, and see many more I haven’t needed yet. I can now understand (and appreciate) how posts from really seasoned developers keep popping up every now and then explaining some obscure git command they just discovered and used to solve an even more obscure situation.
The adventure begins
After trying out a few SSGs, I have decided to stick with Zine. Basically:
- It’s written in Zig, which means I’ll eventually be able to contribute to it – once I become better at Zig.
- It consists of several cool projects, all of which you get to use at once.
- Its maintainer, Loris Cro, is super nice and I’ve learnt a lot from his blog.
- It generates static sites, which is nice too ;)
